Lately ive been scouring deviantart for some highly inspiring works of art. In light of getting a 40D, ive decided to understand photography, these featured works of inspiration all have a certain element i find fascinating. By glance you just think wow these are incredible, but ask yourself why are they incredible, ive begun to notice little photographic tricks by these artists that turn their works into masterpieces
Take foureyes

This photo is amazing (along with all his others), but imagine if that piece of clothing wasn't covering the sun, the photo would be over exposed and intense clipping of the highlights would occur, it's these little tricks amateur photographers don't take into consideration.
Another visual pleasing element seems to be color gradation and complimenting colors
Take my-shots

and commander Dex

What makes these shots amazing is the color contrast between the sky and the foreground, if my-shots shot was pure orange, a certain feeling/meaning would be lost, likewise commander dex's color gradation just makes me happy, it's not oversaturated but deep and powerful, plus orange and green compliment very well, a blue and green wouldn't have worked as effectively in this shot.
Last one i'm going to explain, he's hougaard, if you haven't heard of him yet, you soon will, he's pretty new to deviantart, like me, but infinitely more popular. He's one of the best and i'm sure everyone on deviantart will soon know about his work. He's definitely someone you must watch and fav
Heres two of my favorites for two different reasons

Fav #1 keeps it in reality, it's possible to imagine this shot without the behind the scenes work of photoshop, yet this is still an amazing shot. It might looks easy at first, but look closely at how the clouds stretch across the whole picture, it feels like their pulling you right into the far right, into the center of the clouds, im sure this is no accident by hougaard. I also love the greenish blue of the water and the unique architecture, but i can go forever about this.
The other shot fav #2, isn't exactly based in reality, it seems to be an extension of what he imagined the shot should be, and proceeded to create that mental picture using photoshop and filters.
Anyways, enough explaining and enjoy these next amazing works, try to find why their such great photos

Hopefully you all enjoy my selection, i highly recommend watching every single one of these deviants, your work will get better just by looking at all their photography
